Safeguarding

Welcome to The Chorister Pathway Safeguarding Policy

We believe that:

  • Children and young people should never experience abuse of any kind
  • We have a responsibility to promote the welfare of all children and young people, to keep them safe and to conduct our courses in a way that protects them.

We recognise that:

  • the welfare of children is paramount in all the work we do, and in all the decisions we take. All children, regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, race, religion or belief, sex, or sexual orientation have an equal right to protection from all types of harm or abuse
  • some children are additionally vulnerable because of the impact of previous experiences, their level of dependency, communication needs or other issues

We will seek to keep children and young people safe by:

  • valuing, listening to and respecting them
  • recording, storing and using information professionally and securely, in line with data protection legislation and guidance
  • using safeguarding and child protection procedures to share concerns and relevant information with agencies who need to know, and involving children, parents, families and carers appropriately
  • creating and maintaining an anti-bullying environment
  • some children are additionally vulnerable because of the impact of previous experiences, their level of dependency, communication needs or other issues

ONLINE SAFEGUARDING

We are committed to:

  • only agreeing sessions with parent/carer
  • beginning and ending each session with a conversation between us and parent/carer. On no account can a sesison take place without a direct conversation with the parent/carer at the outset
  • ensuring that the parent/carer remains in the room throughout the entire session
  • conducting the session in a public setting i.e. the lounge, dining room or common use area in the house, not giving away where they live. A child’s bedroom must never be used for an online session
  • ensuring only parent/carer email addresses are used for setting up sessions online with us
  • protecting ourselves from accidental inappropriate digital contact with pupils by restricting our profile so that it does not automatically accept contact requests and is not accessible to others
  • using an appropriate profile picture and establish a professional, respectful manner when using our online platforms
  • ensuring the chosen online learning platform is not used for any other contact, eg. sharing photos or general messaging
  • dressing appropriately and using a neutral background.
  • taking care that the frame is well chosen and appropriate
  • ensuring that any sessions that may be recorded by parents/carers are not shared in the public domain including social media platforms.
